On Friday, June 13, 2025, the foundation stone for the new school center was laid – a significant milestone for the Diocese of Erfurt and the entire region.
During a devotion, Bishop Ulrich Neymeyr personally blessed the construction site. Together with representatives from the Diocese, a time capsule containing building plans, letters, coins, and a current newspaper was placed in the foundation stone – a symbolic moment that highlights the importance of this educational project.

The school center is being built in the southern part of Leinefelde on a plot of land spanning approximately 14,000 square meters. It will accommodate about 1,000 students and 100 teachers and is set to open in the 2027/28 school year. With an investment of around 50 million euros, it is the largest single construction project in the history of the Diocese of Erfurt. Sustainability plays a central role: a wooden façade, photovoltaic panels, geothermal energy, and spacious green outdoor areas will make the campus a place for the future, both architecturally, ecologically, and pedagogically.
We at Petschow & Thiel GmbH are excited to support this special project as project managers and project controller. Our managing director, Thomas Werner, moderated the key part of the ceremonial event and guided the audience through a diverse program with music, speeches, and blessings. Together with the Diocese of Erfurt, RBZ General Planning Company GmbH, and the general contractor Goldbeck GmbH, we look forward with anticipation to the upcoming construction phases!
